Dr Stephen Roe started as the new Executive Officer of AINDT on 1st March 2010, and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge in management systems, certification, condition monitoring, standards and leadership. He has a science doctorate yet 25 years experience in industrial research, development, production environments and laboratory management.
With 8 years experience as a Certification Manager at BINDT, he created the UKs conditioning monitoring certification scheme [accredited by UKAS in 2006] and wrote two other certification management systems still to be launched. Notwithstanding his considerable understanding of standards like ISO9001, ISO9004, ISO19011, ISO14001, ISO 17024 and ISO17025, especially as an auditor for the last 15 years, he has over 10 years of senior laboratory management experience before joining BINDT.
With this industrial R&D and systems/projects management experience, integrating science, technology with the real world problems and applications, he brings an insight to the AINDT that will bridge the gap between science, engineering and the public. With 8 years as a UK expert representing the UK at ISO standards committees [/TC108/SC5] on condition monitoring, and a member of the BSI- GME/21 related committees, Stephen has presented a business plan that offers an exciting new direction and development for AINDT in the future, a future with absolute compliance to the standards of our industries.
Aside from establishing a new Federal Headquarters and Federal Secretariat, a new horizon for Australian condition monitoring and NDT will see AINDT world leaders within the next 3 years. The new developments planned are exciting and challenging, especially in new disciplines like infrared thermography and vibration analysis.
